This includes a statue of legendary entertainer Dolly Parton, who grew up in Sevierville as the fourth of 12 siblings! Here are the top 3 reasons why you’ll love exploring downtown Sevierville:

1. Fascinating Historical Buildings

The most iconic building in town is the Sevier County Courthouse, which was built in 1896 (the same year that the state of Tennessee celebrated its centennial). In 1976, it became the first courthouse in the state to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places! The statue of Dolly Parton has adorned the front lawn of the courthouse for over 30 years as a tribute to the superstar! There are plenty of other fascinating historical buildings too, including the 1940 Sevierville Post Office that now houses the Sevier County Heritage Museum.

2. Unique Speciality Shops

If you enjoy shopping, you’ll be in heaven while visiting downtown Sevierville! There are all kinds of unique specialty shops in town, including an amazing jewelry gallery called Ronel Raicsics Designs! Another interesting store is the Cherry Pit Quilt Shop, which carries everything you would ever need to make a quilt! Don’t leave town without browsing through Jolene’s on Bruce St., a trendy boutique inspired by the shop owner’s love for Dolly Parton!

3. Beautiful City Murals

You won’t want to miss the Wings of Wander mural by Sevierville artist Pinkie Mistry, which shows a large set of butterfly wings for a fun photo opportunity! This mural is a nod to Dolly Parton’s hit “Love is Like a Butterfly”, and the artist selected the monarch butterfly as it visits Tennessee during its annual migration to Mexico. Be sure to also check out the mural depicting a young blonde child enjoying a burger at Red’s Café, a former Sevierville eatery that was a favorite of young Dolly Parton!
